The United States and China have reached a framework agreement that will allow TikTok to continue operating in the US. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed this news, while President Donald Trump said on social media that young people would be very happy with the result. Trump delayed three times a law that tells ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, to sell part of the app. Politicians from both US parties support this law. They worry that the Chinese government can read American data and change TikTok’s algorithm. TikTok has more than 170 million users in the US, it is one of the most popular apps for entertainment and business. The current delay of the ban ends on September 17, but this new agreement shows progress. Trump also plans to speak with China’s President Xi Jinping soon, and more details are expected after their meeting.
